5 Critical Garden Planning Mistakes: How Not to Lose Your Harvest

Bad neighbors, shading, and the wrong soil — discover the mistakes that even experienced gardeners make. Tips on planting rosemary, spinach, and leeks from AgroPlanner.

Many believe success depends on fertilizers or watering. In reality, 50% is decided at the layout stage. One planning mistake can kill expensive seedlings. Let's break down the main gardener "fails."

1. Ignoring Sunlight Needs

Sun-loving crops like Rosemary will never yield a rich aroma in the shade. Beginners often plant herbs under fences or trees. Always check the light parameter in our planner before planting.

2. Overcrowding: The Space War

Planting Spinach too densely or next to sprawling zucchinis is a common error. Spinach needs ventilation to avoid fungal issues. Respect the 50x50 cm cell size in the app to ensure healthy growth.

3. Wrong Soil Type

This is a "silent killer." For instance, Leeks require deep, fertile loams. If the soil is too heavy, the plant won't develop its signature long white stem. Perform a soil sausage test before you start digging.

4. Height Mismanagement

Tall plants on the south side shade everything else. Place tall trellises or vines on the north side of your plot using AgroPlanner to ensure everyone gets enough sunlight.

5. Bad Neighbors (Allelopathy)

Some plants chemically suppress their neighbors. Our system highlights these conflicts in red — don't ignore these alerts! It's better to move a plant on the screen than to watch it fail in the soil.
